The performer’s cherry tattoo on her shoulder becomes a quiet but powerful symbol throughout the video. Much like a painter’s signature emerging in the corner of a canvas, it introduces a note of individuality and contrast, subtly guiding the viewer’s attention and enriching the composition. The cherry imprinted in my mind the image of the apple of sin from the Garden of Eden. And this sin is luxuriously represented by the lust you have for that perfection of neck that Rothbarth is experiencing. The sensation is not only of lust but envy also. You are completely dazzled by that feminine neck and by the superb acting. It is almost as if the actress know your desire for that piece of damnation of oneself that is her neck and she acts to really torture you.
The production embraces simplicity: controlled lighting, intimate framing, and a deliberate pacing that lets each image speak for itself. It echoes the wisdom of Marcus Aurelius, who reminded us that “the soul becomes dyed with the colour of its thoughts.” Here, those “colours” appear in light, shadow, and the expressive tension carried in the lines of the performer’s neck and shoulders.
As with the earlier installments, this work positions Zwanlake as the spiritual heir to Marina Pia — not by repetition, but by deepening a shared artistic devotion to minimalism, form, and presence.
